Joshua 1:8 says, "This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success."
One of the key phrases in that verse is, "...observe to do..." It is a phrase that carries two parts with it. First, the observing - Second, the doing. God's desire is not that we observe only: read the Bible, listen to preaching, study and read other books. But at the same time, God's desire is not that we do only. More than one time in the Bible do we find God punishing people who claimed to be doing things for Him, but they were not doing them in accordance to what they should have observed from His word.
ObserveToDo.com is a website put together by members of First Bible Baptist Church of Rochester, NY. Our goal is to help believers Observe what the Bible says by including articles on many different doctrines in the Bible, by linking to other books and by providing some audio and video content. At the same time, these resources also are designed to encourage you to do something about it. Our beliefs determine our behaviors. So we need to have the right beliefs down and then let our behavior follow suit.
